Le Petit Dej

It started in a rental minivan somewhere in the Pacific Northwest. Two days, a loose plan, and an appetite bordering on criminal. Portland to the coast and back again, chasing plates that made you swear out loud and coffee that tasted like it had something to prove. It wasn’t about fine dining. It was about the kind of food that stops you mid-sentence. Food you have to eat, right now, with your hands, standing up.

Somewhere between the fog-draped pines and the open stretch of two-lane blacktop, this project was born. Le Petit Dej. Not just breakfast, not just food but a snapshot of moments that taste better than they look and look too good not to shoot. I wanted to make something tactile. Something that doesn’t just live on a screen and die in a scroll. A magazine. A thick, printed, loved, left on a coffee table, picked up again.

Still a work in progress, still rough around the edges (just like the best meals) But what we’ve made so far, over a couple sessions is the result of working with people who bring their whole selves to the table. Friends. Freakishly talented ones.

This isn’t just about food. It’s about obsession. About capturing hunger the literal kind and the kind that keeps you up at night, chasing the next shot, the next bite, the next idea.
