It started, like all the best things do, with a half-cocked idea and a camera older than me. I picked up a Hasselblad 500CM off eBay at the beginning of 2023 a beautiful, clunky Swedish tank built for precision and poetry. I didn’t know what I was doing with it, not really. So I called up a friend, loaded a roll, and let the shutter rip. That first shoot wasn’t perfect but it was real. And just like that, Tuesday Morning Portrait Club was born.
Every week, once a week, I invited anyone, Actors, Chefs, Designers, strangers with good stories and crooked smiles. To sit in front of that lens. No agents. No egos. Just people. The rule was simple: show up as you are. My goal wasn’t just to shoot a portrait it was to find something different in every face, to speak a new visual language each time. Lighting changed. Backgrounds shifted. But the vibe stayed the same: raw, unvarnished, human.
No ads, no flyers. Just word of mouth. The kind of underground thing that lives in whispers and coffee shop rumors. Some of these folks had never been photographed before. Some wouldn’t have said yes if they’d had time to think. That was the magic. Vulnerability on film. One frame at a time.
